Terms of Service

Effective date: May 23, 2026  ·  Last updated: May 23, 2026

⚠ Educational Use Only — Read Before Using

Paramedic+ is a training simulator designed to help paramedics and EMS students practise clinical reasoning. It is not a substitute for professional medical judgement, real clinical training, or certified education programs. AI-generated scenarios may contain errors. Never use information from this platform to guide decisions in an actual emergency or real patient encounter. Always verify all clinical content against your service's current protocols and approved training materials.

01

About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Paramedic+ platform, including the website, web application, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Paramedic+ ("we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the application. Your continued use after the effective date of a change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

02

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are 18 years of age or older;
  • You are using the Service solely for legitimate educational, training, or professional development purposes in the emergency medical services or healthcare field;
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement; and
  • Your use complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

The Service is intended for paramedics, EMTs, first responders, and EMS students. It is not intended for use by members of the general public seeking medical advice.

03

Your Account

You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and current information when registering;
  • Keep your password secure and not share it with anyone;
  • Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised;
  • Use only one account per person — creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits is prohibited.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are found to be fraudulent, abusive, or in violation of these Terms.

04

Educational Disclaimer and Scope of Service

Paramedic+ is designed exclusively as a training and simulation tool. The following applies at all times:

  • Not medical advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment guidance for real patients.
  • AI-generated content. Scenarios, patient responses, preceptor feedback, and debrief summaries are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain clinical inaccuracies, outdated protocols, or errors. All content must be verified against your jurisdiction's current approved protocols before being applied in any real-world context.
  • Not a certification program. Completing scenarios on Paramedic+ does not constitute certified training hours, accredited continuing education, or any form of official qualification recognized by any licensing body.
  • Simulated patients are not real. All patient names, presentations, and clinical details are fictional. Any resemblance to real persons or clinical events is coincidental.
  • No real patient data. You must never enter, describe, or reference real patient information — including names, dates of birth, health card numbers, or any other personally identifying information — in any part of the Service, including the voice simulation or any text fields.
05

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for its intended educational purpose. You must not:

  • Use the Service to obtain medical advice for yourself or others;
  • Input real patient information, health records, or personally identifying information about any individual;
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract AI model outputs, prompts, or system configurations;
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service;
  • Circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or any technical restrictions;
  • Share your account or login credentials with another person;
  • Use the Service in any way that could harm, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
  • Use the Service to train competing AI models or services;
  • Represent AI-generated debrief feedback as formal evaluation or assessment in any official, legal, or accreditation context.
06

Voice Sessions and Data Processing

The core simulation experience uses real-time voice technology. By using the voice features, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Your voice audio is transmitted to OpenAI's servers in real time for processing by AI language models. Audio is not stored by us — it is processed and discarded by OpenAI according to their data policies;
  • Text transcriptions of your speech, AI patient responses, and debrief content may be stored in your account history in our database;
  • Usage data (volume of audio processed, measured in tokens) is collected to track your weekly usage for service delivery purposes;
  • You will not speak the names, health card numbers, or any identifying information of real individuals during voice sessions.

See our Privacy Policy for complete details on data handling.

07

Beta Period and Service Availability

The Service is currently in an early access (beta) period. During this time:

  • Access is provided free of charge — no payment information is required;
  • Features, scenarios, and the user interface may change without notice;
  • Service interruptions, bugs, or data inconsistencies may occur — we are actively developing and testing;
  • We may limit access, change usage allowances, or discontinue features at any time during the beta period;
  • Your feedback is valuable to us. By using the Service, you consent to us using anonymized usage patterns to improve the product.

When paid plans are introduced, we will provide advance notice and the option to opt in. No charges will be made without your explicit consent.

08

Usage Limits

To ensure fair access and sustainable service, usage limits apply:

  • During beta: No enforced limits on voice usage. We reserve the right to introduce limits with reasonable notice if usage patterns threaten service stability.
  • Paid plans (when launched): Specific limits (including the weekly audio voice allowance) will be clearly disclosed at the point of subscription and in our pricing terms. Exceeding a limit will pause new voice sessions until the limit resets — it will not result in unexpected charges.

We will not charge your payment method for usage beyond your plan without your explicit prior authorization.

09

Bring Your Own API Key

The Service includes an optional feature allowing you to connect your own OpenAI API key ("BYOK"). If you use this feature:

  • Your API key is encrypted before storage using industry-standard encryption and is never transmitted in plaintext;
  • You are responsible for all usage and associated costs billed by OpenAI under your key;
  • We are not responsible for any charges, overages, or policy violations that result from your key's use through our platform;
  • You must comply with OpenAI's terms of service when using your key through Paramedic+;
  • You may remove your key at any time through Settings.
10

Intellectual Property

All content, scenarios, prompts, UI design, branding, and software comprising the Service are the intellectual property of Paramedic+ or its licensors and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial educational purposes only. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

AI-generated debrief feedback and scenario content generated during your sessions are provided for your personal training use. You may save or share debrief summaries for your own professional development, but you may not publish, sell, or commercially exploit them.

11

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time;
  • AI-generated clinical content is accurate, complete, current, or appropriate for any real patient situation;
  • The Service will meet your specific training or professional requirements;
  • Any errors or defects will be corrected.

You use the Service at your own risk. Clinical information encountered in scenarios must be verified against authoritative sources and current protocols before any real-world application.

12

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Paramedic+ and its operators, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

  • Reliance on AI-generated clinical content in any real-world or patient-care context;
  • Loss of data, training records, or access to the Service;
  • Service interruptions or unavailability during the beta period;
  • Any decisions made based on debrief feedback or scenario outcomes.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service will not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $50 CAD, whichever is greater.

13

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion by contacting us at legal@paramedicplus.ca. We will delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days of a verified request.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, are engaging in abusive or harmful behaviour, or if we discontinue the Service.

Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 11, 12, and 14) will continue to apply.

14

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.

Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at legal@paramedicplus.ca and give us 30 days to attempt resolution in good faith.
